Onslow County · North Carolina
Jacksonville was a small river town until Camp Lejeune opened in 1941, and most of its houses came later.Military households move every few years, so a solar array here can easily outlast two or three owners. Each sale is a chance for warranty records, monitoring logins and lease papers to go missing.

How we cover it
Art of Solar is a Florida solar company, so there is no van around the corner in Jacksonville. Call or text the address, the panel count and what is going on, and you get a straight answer: what the job needs, roughly what it costs, and whether we can take it on or who should.
On the ground in Jacksonville
Inside city limits, permits come through Jacksonville's own planning and permitting office, and the county handles the unincorporated neighborhoods just outside. Duke Energy Progress serves most of the city, with Jones-Onslow EMC in some outlying areas, so the name on the power bill decides who gets the paperwork when a system goes back online. Older sections near downtown and the New River have small ranches and cottages, and established subdivisions like Northwoods and Brynn Marr hold plenty of brick. Newer streets off Western Boulevard and Gum Branch Road are vinyl-sided two-stories on architectural shingle. Florence stripped shingles across the city in 2018 and brought down part of a hotel roof. Many houses got new roofs in the rush that followed, and arrays put back during that rush deserve a second look.
In Northwoods, Brynn Marr and the subdivisions off Gum Branch Road, a familiar situation is a family with orders to move and a house carrying a leased system the buyer did not expect. Rental owners who bought near the base gates often have no idea who installed the panels on their roof. If the installer was Pink Energy, which shut down in 2022, nobody from the original company is coming back to service it.

FAQ
Often, yes, when it is planned. Art of Solar is a Florida solar company, so North Carolina work is booked ahead and grouped with other jobs in Southern Coast, and it only goes ahead with the North Carolina license the work needs. Send the address, the panel count and the roofer's tear-off date for a straight answer.
In North Carolina, a solar job of any size has to be contracted and permitted by a contractor licensed by the State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors: a limited, intermediate or unlimited electrical license, or the special restricted single-family dwelling license for work on a detached house. A general contractor may work under that electrician, and there is no separate solar license.
Homes in Jacksonville are generally served by Duke Energy Progress for most of the city, Jones-Onslow EMC in some outlying areas. When an array goes back on after a roof job the utility usually needs to know, and the building department normally inspects the reinstall before the system is switched back on.
It changes what fails first. Salt attacks rails, clamps and grounding hardware long before it hurts a panel, so near the water every fastener gets checked and anything corroded is replaced rather than reused.
