Solar panel removal, reinstall & repair in Yadkin County, NC
Yadkin County is tobacco land turned wine country, with the Yadkin River on two sides. Its vineyards sit inside the Yadkin Valley wine region, and its roofs are mostly farmhouses, brick ranches and big metal-roofed farm buildings, many old enough that a new roof and a solar detach arrive together.

Permits, power and roofs in Yadkin County
Former tobacco barns, poultry houses and equipment sheds carry wide, low-slope metal roofs, and arrays on them were often attached with screws straight through the sheets, which loosen as the metal moves with heat and cold. Yadkin County's inspections office covers the unincorporated county, where most of the farmland and newer rural homes sit. Surry-Yadkin EMC, EnergyUnited and Duke Energy Carolinas each serve parts of Yadkin. The Brushy Mountains reach into the northwest corner, and spring hail and windstorms cross the county most years. Pine and hardwood pollen coats panels each April, and in a dry spring that film can cut output until rain washes it off.
Around Swan Creek, Hamptonville and Courtney, vineyard and farm properties bring arrays on outbuildings that need to come off for a new metal roof. In Yadkinville, Jonesville and East Bend it is older brick houses whose shingles have worn out under panels, and systems from closed installers with nobody left to diagnose a dead inverter.

FAQ
Yadkin County: questions homeowners ask
Can you take solar panels off for a new roof in Yadkin County?
Often, yes, when it is planned. Art of Solar is a Florida solar company, so North Carolina work is booked ahead and grouped with other jobs in Foothills, and it only goes ahead with the North Carolina license the work needs. Send the address, the panel count and the roofer's tear-off date for a straight answer.
Who is allowed to work on solar panels in North Carolina?
In North Carolina, a solar job of any size has to be contracted and permitted by a contractor licensed by the State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors: a limited, intermediate or unlimited electrical license, or the special restricted single-family dwelling license for work on a detached house. A general contractor may work under that electrician, and there is no separate solar license.
Who reconnects the system in Yadkin County?
Homes in Yadkin County are generally served by Surry-Yadkin EMC, EnergyUnited and Duke Energy Carolinas, split by area. When an array goes back on after a roof job the utility usually needs to know, and the building department normally inspects the reinstall before the system is switched back on.
My installer went out of business. Can the system still be fixed?
Usually. The installer's own workmanship warranty is gone, but the panels, inverter and optimizers carry manufacturer warranties that normally still apply, and a dead system is often one failed part rather than a worn-out array.
