Sarasota County · Florida
Venice was planned in the 1920s by John Nolen, and the city still leans on Northern Italian Renaissance styling. That means barrel tile, stucco and a preference for arrays that stay out of view, plus the roof repairs that followed Helene and Milton in the fall of 2024.

How we cover it
Venice is outside our weekly Orlando to Miami run, so work here is booked ahead and grouped with other jobs in Southwest Florida. The drive is priced into the written quote, never added later. Call or text with the roofer's tear-off date and we will tell you which week works.
On the ground in Venice
South Venice and Venice Gardens share the name but sit outside the city, so their permits go through Sarasota County, while the City of Venice building division handles addresses inside its limits. Electric service here is FPL's. Helene pushed several feet of surge through Venice in late September 2024, and Milton's landfall followed thirteen days later just up the coast near Siesta Key, so roof claims stacked up on the island and the mainland alike. Much of the housing is block with barrel or flat concrete tile, and tile has to be lifted, stacked and reset by hand around every mount. The Edgewood, Eagle Point and Venezia Park historic districts can add another approval for visible equipment.
On Venice Island and in the older streets near Venice Avenue, the common problem is a tile roof damaged in 2024 with an array that has to come off before the roofer can start. Retirees in the gated golf communities often find the original installer gone when an inverter quits. Salt reaches every street near the Gulf beaches.

Only a licensed solar or electrical contractor, because a roofing license does not cover it. The reinstall usually needs its own permit and inspection through Sarasota County or the city, depending on the address.
Homes in Venice are generally served by FPL. When an array goes back on after a roof job the utility usually needs to know, and the building department normally inspects the reinstall before the system is switched back on.
It changes what fails first. Salt attacks rails, clamps and grounding hardware long before it hurts a panel, so near the water every fastener gets checked and anything corroded is replaced rather than reused.

The address, roughly how many panels, who installed them if you know, and what is happening. A photo of the array from the street and one of the inverter get you an accurate number fastest, and texting them is the quickest way to send them.
